Maybe our favorite seafood shack ever. The best BBQ-style (and raw) oysters around. Don’t worry if there’s a line, it’ll move fast :) They source their bread from Route One Bakery in nearby Tomales, also worth a visit.
Hog Island Oyster Co.
A Bay Area staple! The Marshall location is 5 minutes down the road from the venue. Make a reservation or grab picnic supplies to go. They run Tony’s Seafood as well, located nearby.

A pretty small but beautiful park on the west side of Petaluma. It’s not super strenuous and a good chunk of the paths are paved.
On the Way
Known for its views of the Golden Gate Bridge, you’ll find a network of hiking trails at all levels just north of SF. Kirby Cove Beach and South Rodeo Beach Trails are highlights.
Redwood Forest Parks
Muir Woods (requires advance reservations for a timed ticket), Armstrong Redwood National Forest, LandPaths Grove of Old Trees
Russian River Brewing
Take a tour at the main brewery in Windsor, or visit the original brewpub in downtown Santa Rosa. Both locations also offer elevated pub food and local wines/ciders.
Wine Country
Check out the many vineyards and tasting rooms in Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, Healdsburg, St. Helena, and Calistoga.
Sustainably sourced seafood dishes with outdoor seating. Get the crab roll. Heath Ceramics also has an outpost just across the parking lot – score deals on factory “seconds” of handcrafted dinnerware, tiles, and home goods.
Dillon Beach and Bodega Bay
Two beach communities along the Marin-Sonoma coast. Explore the tide pools in Dillon Beach, or go whale watching in Bodega Bay.
